Cold mostly clear weekend weather. been raking leaves, and making an effort to clean up piles of paperwork.  need to replace the old computer in study.  I like sitting here using an ergo full size keyboard and with a larger monitor, as opposed to using a laptop.

Renovation project ended early this year, with a few residual tasks that won't seem to go away. been working a remodel in San Diego and starting one in Bellevue.  also working on a replacement of all copiers firm wide using one vendor to increase purchasing leverage.  what a lot of headaches.  latest involvement is managing the signage replacement part of a logo rebranding.

Lauren has a job with TechOps International in D.C. and is sharing an apartment with Lizzie Livengood. We are going to DC on 12/15 for two weeks. She is not thrilled with the job she has, but is networking and looking for opportunity. She applied to be a Presidential Management Fellow and has an interview upcoming so she is excited about that.

Kathy
is at Hackett, Beecher but it is not the same and her time is dwindling, which she is okay with. She's in the process of signing up for Medicare and likely Social Security in the near future.

Sachi the dog and Sprite the cat have gone on over the horizon and are now resting in our backyard.  Ralph, Milo, and of course, Sammy  are still with us.

We bought a Lexus ES350....first "fancy" car we've ever owned, although we did but it with 18,000 mile on it and "Certified Used". Very nice.

Going to Portland to stay at the Westin with Lowell and Carol for the Thanksgiving weekend.

2013 Travels: Palm Springs in spring, Europe in June to meet up with Lauren as her Bosch year ended, Oklahoma in September to bury Mom's ashes at Memorial Park, Portland for Thanksgiving, and DC for Christmas. on a rolling 12 months you can add in a planned 10 days in Hawaii in March and maybe a few days in Palm Springs with Susie and Doug Bruce. Living large on the travel front!

Retirement?  Several people at work I've known for a long time are, or have, retired. Barry Camelon is gone, and Mace Estey has given notice for year end. I think about it, but think I have such a deep anxiety about being poor that now that I have a fairly good salary I am reluctant to rely on Soc Security and 401K savings, even though we have enough to live on for several years.   What would I do with my time?  Some ideas that I've considered but not taken any steps on are volunteering at the VA, finding a role in lobbying for traffic safety laws, becoming a house flipper as a second career, getting a project management certification so I can segue into being a consultant.  maybe work less, make more?
